 The American Dog Journey is an independent documentary project exploring American history through the lives of dogs. Using primary sources, archival collections, newspapers, photographs, and government records, the project uncovers remarkable stories that connect dogs, people, and the events that shaped the United States. 

  Andrea LaGrow is a documentary producer, researcher, photographer, and lifelong dog advocate. Through The American Dog Journey, she combines archival research, primary sources, and storytelling to uncover the remarkable ways dogs have shaped American history. Her work focuses on preserving overlooked stories and making history accessible to modern audiences. 

 Dogs are a reflection of their humans, and throughout American history they have walked beside us through war, work, exploration, hardship, and home life. The American Dog Journey explores those stories because the history of dogs is, in many ways, the history of America itself.
